Yesterday, Alex, Erica, Carson, and I went to The City to get a little "Holiday Spirit." We walked around in Union Square, where the huge Macy's tree is located. There were a LOT of people there, but we had a good time!

The Holidays Have Arrived!
Happy Holidays! Since my last post, we have been busy! Alex has started to eat "solid" foods once a day, which is a fun (and messy) event. The three of us travelled to Kansas for Thanksgiving and were able to visit with family. Alex was fantastic on all of the flights! In Kansas City, we saw The Peoples family, Whit and Kirk, and Mark and Sheryl. Then at Grandma Jeanne's house in Manhattan, we were able to see Jessica and Ryan and some of The Becks. We travelled a lot in the four days, but we had a wonderful time!

The last two weekends
Last weekend, we took Alex to Kansas for his first visit there. We had a really nice weekend and were able to see a lot of family and friends! Grandma Eileen and Grandpa Chuck gave Andy and I some time to relax a little, which we really appreciated. Alex saw Great-Grandma Jeanne in Lawrence and he also met Uncle Kirk and Aunt Bridget! Uncle Mike and Aunt Stacy joined us for dinner on Friday night, so he was able to see them for the first time, too! This past weekend, Mike and Allison came out to CA to visit. We were busy and had a really good time together! Here are some pictures of the two weekends: Alex learning about the joy of eating at JOSE PEPPER'S :) and Alex with Mike at The Boardwalk.

A new onesie for the Little Guy
Yesterday, we had some friends over for a barbecue at our place. We had a really nice evening! One fun thing was that our friends Karen and Dave brought a new onesie for Alex! You may know that Andy sometimes likes to "debate"... and he loves to argue about politics with Karen! I had to post this picture because it's a really funny gift!
(Sorry that I didn't rotate the photo!)

Finally- a new post!
It has been a long time since my last post! My students came back last week and I have been feeling pretty busy, then tired when I am finished with work. This will just be a quick post for now...
For Labor Day weekend, Uncle Ryan and Aunt Jessica came out to visit and we all had a great time! We are so glad they made the long trip out! On Saturday we barbecued and stayed around the homefront. On Sunday, Laura was really kind to babysit Alex all day- and even took The Small Fry to her family's barbeque!- so that the four of us could go to The City for the day. We wandered all around Haight-Ashbury during the "40th Anniversary of The Summer of Love!" Monday, we all went to the Beach Boardwalk at Santa Cruz and then came back to San Jose for Japanese food. Alex did a great job all day; he was able to see and hear all kinds of fun things at The Boardwalk and really seemed to be entertained at Kyoto Palace! This picture shows Alex in his stroller at The Boardwalk, accompanied by his two new furry tiger friends. (Andy and Ryan threw baseballs so that they could win the stuffed animal prizes! :) Last weekend was really fun!

Monday, Monday
I have today and tomorrow... and then I go back to work. It seems so strange to have been gone from work for so long. Will I know what I am doing when I get back to it?! (I certainly will look at my students a little differently now, since I can imagine what their parents went through to get them to this point in their lives! :)
*For today's post, I am including a picture from last week's playdate. This picture has Aaron, Alina, and Alex, who are all roughly the same age. They were SO cute for this picture- they were all squirming their legs at the same time and pace! :)
*I am also posting a link to a book that I am reading right now, which I really like. It's funny! It is more for the moms who don't know exactly what they're doing... it's called "Sippy Cups Are Not For Chardonnay." http://www.amazon.com/Sippy-Cups-Are-Not-Chardonnay/dp/1416915060
*In addition, here is a link to Jari's (a little sweetie from the Mommy/ Play Group) webpage: http://jari.thorbjornsen.info/update_2007-08-15.html
His Mom is really good at documenting his events online- check it out! :)Friday, August 17, 2007

Alex and Jari
This picture was taken about three weeks ago at Mommy Group. It's Alex and Jari together. (Yes, Jari's outfit does say "Uber-Nerd" because his mom is a math teacher and his dad works in computers, so Laurie's friend thought it was a funny one!) They kept touching hands and it was really cute! (Excuse the fact that Alex isn't fully dressed! :)
August 15th
Officially, he's three months old today!
Happy Birthday, Small Fry!
Alex started going to his daycare this week. He is going for half-days this week and will start full-time next Monday. Corina's place feels so great and here is her website if you would like to check it out: www.happyphasesdaycare.com.
Today Alex and I went to Diaper Days again to see "No Reservations," which was a fun way to spend an afternoon. (He did a great job during the movie!) Then, we went to visit Alanna and Erica M. Alanna is at a super-cute toddler stage right now!
Tomorrow we will go to Palmia Park for one of our last playdates, since I go back to work next week. I will try to get some pictures of Alex with his friends Aaron, Alina, Jari, and Luke.

PHOTOS!
Yesterday, I took Alex to the mall to get some pictures taken. On Tuesday of this week, he turned 12 weeks old, so I wanted to get some photos taken- more than just our snapshots at home. We went to The Picture People (http://www.picturepeople.com/). The girl who shot his pictures was really nice to us and she was very patient, too. She captured some really cute shots and I had a hard time deciding which pictures to buy! I took a picture of those pictures and am posting it here :)

A Visit to the Doctor
This morning, Alex had his 2-month check-up. He weighs 13 pounds and three ounces- wow! He is also over 24 inches long- he's a big guy now! He had to get four shots in his thighs and he was not very happy about that at all; however, he seems to be feeling better now. He's bouncing in his new bumble chair and playing with his bright lion toy. While we were at the doctor, we tried to entertain him with this book that they had there. He followed all of the pictures while Andy read to him!

Other stuff...
Hi again! It's Amy and Alex here. I can't seem to find the download cord for my camera at the moment... we have taken some really cute pix over the past two days- we've caught him in a smile both times! :)
This is a link to the book that he really seems to enjoy- he stomps his foot and smiles when we read it.

Last week, we all went to St. Augustine, Florida for Dick's surprise birthday party. We had a fantastic time! In the first picture, Alex is showing Jamie that he can't ALWAYS control his eyes! The second picture shows how we may have been a little over-zealous with the sunscreen for the little guy. Alex swam for the first time with Andy and Grandma Jeanne- how cute are those little tiny trunks?! In the last picture, Curtis got us all together for a group shot in our commemorative t-shirts. We really had a good time on our vacation!
Chatting with my friends...
It's crazy that almost 8 weeks have passed since his arrival! We have been BUSY! Alex has had visitors and an adventure to Florida- he's even been out to eat Chinese food! Aunt Whitney, Great-Grandma Jeanne, Grandma and Grandpa Peoples, and Uncle Brant have all been to visit. We've also moved from our apartment to a house in San Jose (with a backyard for the dogs!). Adjusting to life with a newborn has been so crazy, but we are making it; we are exhausted, but making it. :) We are SO appreciative of all of the help and kindness that all of our friends and family have given to us- we are very lucky to have you all in our lives! Here are some more pictures, taken over the last several weeks. These pictures are from June. Great-Grandma Jeanne with Alex. His cute "Little" outfit. Alex loves his "greenie"- and so do we!

Close-up pictures of Alex
He's finally here!
Alexander Andrew Peoples arrived on Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 at 9:09am! He weighed in at 9 pounds, 2 ounces and he was 20 and 3/4 inches long! He was born at Good Samaritan in San Jose, CA. We all spent two days together at the hospital and we are excited to be home together! Here are some of his first pictures: in the delivery room and getting kisses from Daddy.
